Another semi-busy and productive day today. I went and applied for some jobs to make some supplemental income, the Disney boat just isn't cutting it anymore. Went to Barnes and Noble to check out some books, of course I wanted way too many and I can't really afford it right now so I had to pass. School for 3 hours and then grocery store. I know, exciting huh.

VMAs

Since everyone else is giving small discourses on the VMAs I'll make just make this a quick list of things that struck me.

  • What's with the more movie style format, and less “live event” look?
  • Jack Black, funny as hell as always.
  • Good Charlotte, worse band ever!
  • Christina Aguilera, nice feather-duster costume.
  • Best Presenters, Snoop and Sandler. Fo Shizzle.
  • Crank Yankers, stole the show.
  • Lame scream of the night- Linkin Park kid yellin, “METALLICA!!”
  • Cliche' of the night- Good Charlotte smashing instruments.
  • Unfairness of the night- Those kids winning $25,000 for answering easy questions.
  • Shaun Paul, isn't he a bit white to be Jamaican?
  • I guess since her record label dropped her Kelly Osbourne is off the diet.
  • Note to Avril Lavigne: EAT A SANDWICH!
  • 50 Cent wins the “Most Pimps Together on One Stage without Gunfire” award.
  • Do you think Bam Margera was high?
  • Justin's (as well as some others) face during the kiss, priceless.

That is all I'm gonna say about that. MTV has gotten progressively worse over the past 5 years and this award show proved it. So sad, so sad.

Anyway, catch you all later of after the weekend.

Oh and here is a slab of RED MEAT for you.

    PEACE!!

Nevermind, crisis averted. I fixed it. Oh yeah, I'm a primo nerd now.

    28 Aug 03 Ahhhh…

What the hell happened to my journal!? I tried to edit the style a bit and when I saved it it changed to a default style. Apparently LiveJounrnal updated their options and forgot to give you a place to choose your custom style. What the hell!?

    Little help?

So work was of course so so today, as always. I think I need to get a second or different job, but I guess that is why I am going to school. So yet another night of sitting around and just hangin' out with my bro'. I am waiting on the last disc of Six Feet Under, so I can't watch any of those tonight. I guess I'll just have to have a few beers and watch the increasingly terrible VMA's. It's disgusting what this joke of an awards show has turned into. The clothes, the money, the idiot pop stars saying inane comments after they've 'won' they're awards. All in all though it is entertaining so I won't bash it too much.

An interview with Arnold Schwarzeneggar that was released in 1977 is being used against him. Apparently he talks about sex *gasp*, drugs *oh my*, bodybuilding *no*, and homosexuality. Wow, way to hold something against someone that was written over 20 years ago. Those other politicos are truly doing anything to try and oust Arnold from the running. Pretty lame if you ask me.

    Weather for tomorrow-
Hot and humid with highs in the low to mid 90's, showers in the mid-afternoon, and nightly temps. in the 70's. Wait, isn't that the forecast for the rest of the damn summer. Hot and gross.

    In Sports-
A bunch of overpaid sports stars recieved way to much money for a minimal amount of effort. A bunch of other narcissistic atheletes did way too much coke and went to jail for slappin' up their wives. Back to you Jim.

In VMA update news Chris Rock just finished his monologue and it was funny as hell. Best joke, the Olsen twins/R Kelly thing. Hilarious.

Please donate money to me so I can buy a Red Monkey watch. They kick ass but are a tad expensive.

I'll get'cha a Bush pic and a slab of Red Meat later.

    Peace!

So I spent almost over three hours at school tonight writing about 14 pages of notes notes on Networks and network protocols as well as taking two really difficult quizzes on…oh well it doesn't matter what it is on. So total I spent probably about 7 1/2 hours on school work today, which equates to I'd really like to go out and unwind a bit. Hmmmm, the Back Booth would be great but alas, I cannot afford even such a minimal amount as if would cost. Looks like I'll just have to wait until next week I suppose, if I'm not living on the streets.

So it looks like another night of Six Feet Under, video games, and maybe a movie or two.

If anyone wants to throw a couple of bucks my way to help buy me some food, please click the buttom below:

    All major credit cards excepted.
    Thank you.

27 Aug 03 A myriad of fish guts and crap….

Today is going to be another busy school day I imagine. 3 chapters to read, another 1 1/2 hour video, two lab/quizzes, and a partridge in a pear tree. What the hell is a partridge anyway? It's a bird right, what the hell is it doing in the damn pear tree? Get it out of there it's gonna shit on the pears. So that is what is on my plate for today, that and some video games, Six Feet Under, and Empire with John Leguizamo, probably one of the most underrated entertainers today. Well that is of course if you strike his movie The Pest from the record.

Yikes, that was a big piece of crap. But I guess all actors are allowed a couple of bad movies throughout their career right. Some just take advantage of that a little more than others, *cough* Brandon Fraser, Pauly Shore, David Schwimmer, post-Bueller Matthew Broderick (but I hear he's good on Broadway), Lisa Kudrow, and the list goes on.

It's funny almost all news of what is still going on in Iraq had ceased. Now you know damn well there are still troops over there being forced fight for a now unknown reason, meanwhile in North Korea we practically have missles pointed at our head. Ah, what a tangled web we weave when our head of state is silver-spoon fed, coke-snortin' cowboy. YeeeHawww!

In business news I urge anyone that has the money to buy some stock in both AMD (NYSE:AMD) and nVidia (Nasdaq:NVDA). AMD is going to be releasing (or may have already) it's 64-bit processors soon, sure to be a big hit amongst high-end game players. And nVidia just purchased MediaQ, makers of mobile devices such as phones and PDAs. With their expertise in graphics chips you can be sure that whatever they release will be a big hit in the mobile computing department.

Okay, off to study, live, and learn. I leave you with……you guessed it.

    26 Aug 03 Head swell…

So I've been productive this morning but it is beginning to get to me. I woke up early and read close to 4 chapters of my text and have worked on two labs. The last part of one of the labs has me redesigning two network setups using a multitude of bridges, hubs, and routers. While this stuff is cool to learn it is all a bit daunting. Plus, this is only the basics of networking, wait until I get to the more advanced stuff. Yikes.

I think I may need to take a break for a bit and watch Six Feet Under or something. Later I need to go to the school to watch a two-hour computer course on Networking. Hopefully that will help me configure these two network problems that are giving me trouble.

So did you here? Bobby Brown is in jail again for violating his probation or something. Man, that guy just can't stay out of trouble can he? A couple of years ago Whitney and Bobby went on the boat and I had the privelage of helping them off of the boat with their luggage. First of all Whitney Houston looked very thin and unhealthy, probably due to all of the 'fun' they have together. Bobby reminded me more of Old Dirty Bastard than a former R&B sensation, he was loud, crass, and generally ghetto. But I guess that is his prerogative (you knew I had to do it.) What happened to Mrs. Houston? She used to be such a star, but I guess what goes up must come down eh?

The Two Towers DVD hits stores today and I am trying to restrain myself from buying it knowing damn well that more than likely the 'Special Edition' will be out in a few months. The bait: The DVD contains a 10-minute teaser trailer for Return of the King. This is so hard to resist but I must fight the forces of consumerism and be patient.

Okay I just checked my mail and found out that I got a game in the mail (Kelly Slater Pro Surfer to be exact.) So I am going to go and play for a bit before I drive to Maitland for school.

    See ya.

So Indy Bar was cool last night. We came, we drank, we danced the night away. I think it has got to be on of my favorite places to go, although I would rather dance to breaks, the atmosphere is a lot better. Now I have been spending the day in recovery mode, as always I probably drank a little too much. That's ok though, I'm gonna be good for a while and not over-indulge.

    Things to do today:

    • School- check

    • Bank- check
    • Read some chapters from textbook-
    • Do some recreational reading (Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk)
    • Watch an episode or two of Six Feet Under

I might do some news later but I'm pretty beat. Plus there is nothing going on that I feel like blabbing about.

So here is some Red Meat for your eye.

24 Aug 03 The road goes ever on…

The weekend was fairly lucrative I must say. I made money at work both days which was good, and Saturday night I played poker with a bunch of friends and won toll money for a few weeks. Kickass!

I think tonight I will take advantage of Independent Bar's 50 cent drink night again, it was fun last week. I never thought I'd have that much fun in places that played cheesy 80's music, but I find it quite amusing.

I don't have much else to say except that I am tired, I am going to go and eat dinner, and I'm going to pop the top on a Newcastle and relaxa bit.

Oh, and I start on my Network+ stuff tomorrow, so there.

So yeah me, I passed the OS portion of my A+ certification today and passed. So now I am an A+ certified PC tech, it actually sounds more impressive than it actually is. However it is good to know that I know have some verifiable skills in something other than bull-shit. Yay me, I'm on my way to being a certified nerd. Next up, the Network+ certification, which hopefully I can complete in about a month depending on how hard I work. I was told by the mentors at the school that I completed the A+ relatively quickly, I've got to try and keep up that pace so I get my money's worth from the school.

    To infinite and beyond….

    So check this shit out….

This is a robot suit being produced by a Japanese company to aid elderly and disabled people sit down, walk up stairs, and do other mundane things we full bipeds take for granted. Amazing! We are one step closer to building robotic limbs that can crush things and fully functional androids. Who knows, the Terminator scenario might be closer than we think. And I for one welcome our new robot masters and look forward to toiling in there underground energy mines.

10 points for anyone that can name where I stole that last line from (albeit a bit edited.)

So there have been more sniper shootings in West Virginia, oh great. So is this the work of a copycat or just another psycho that happened to want to shoot people at gas stations, ala The Jerk. What is the world coming to when some sick fuck can just get a gun and start picking people off on the street? Why is it so easy to get a gun in this country? Now I know it is a constitutional right to bear arms but come on, that was written in the 1700's when the chances of Indians or a bear attacking your home was a little bit more likely. If any of you saw “Bowling for Columbine” you know what I am talking about, we are a country of gun crazy, psychos.

How about this piece of shit, LeBron James has so far received a 90 million dollar contract from Nike, a 6 million dollar deal from Upper Deck trading cards, and a has a multi-million dollar NBA contract. Now he is getting a contract from Coca-Cola to promote Sprite and Powerade products that will probably be in the millions also. All of this and he has yet to play one season game for the NBA. Now I am not a big sports guy but this kind of flagrant use of money that is just disgusting to me. Kids are starving in the street and schools are falling apart and this fucking guy is getting over 200 million dollars for playing a fucking game. What the fuck!?

“…and I say I will respect this symbol of American pride with all 11 stripes and 45 sta…what? Its got 50 stars and 13 stripes? Why don't my advisors freakin' tell me about these last minute updates.”

    And some…RED MEAT

    Oh yeah!

    Peace fools!

    20 Aug 03 A brush with death's second cousin, scared shitless…

I had a brush with possible death today. So there I am sitting in the east bound turning lane on the corner of John Young and Sand Lake Rd. Now if any of you are familiar with this intersection you know that there is a dual turning lane onto Sand Lake, I am in the right hand turn lane. So I'm waiting to go and I look over at the girl next to me and she is jamming out to some unheard tune. The green arrow lights up and we proceed forward, the girl is a little slow on the gas and is behind a bit. Well in mid-turn I look to my left and see that some possibly high truck driver has forgotten that red means stop and is headed straight at me, so I hit the accelerator and speed out of harms way. The girl in the next lane over was not so lucky. I watched in my mirror as the semi-truck plowed straight into the side of the girls car. Me, being in a state of shock, proceeded on my way to Lowes to buy an A/C filter. Now I feel like I should have stopped and made sure the girl was okay and give a statement to the authorities that the truck did in fact run the red light. Well, I can only hope that the girl is all right and that there were plenty of other witnesses that will let the police know what happened. Yikes!

    Life is short.

    Live it.

    Love it.

    Make it yours.
